Dementia Friendly Church

Greenbank Parish Church —
a Dementia Friendly Church

Our recorded Dementia Friendly Services

Greenbank is the local church for everyone. We reach out to our community and try to be welcoming and open to all.  We are working towards becoming a church that is friendly for people living with dementia, their families and friends:

  • The church building is being adapted taking into account the needs of people with dementia.

  • Many of the church community are Dementia Friends and have taken part in awareness raising facilitated by Alzheimer Scotland.

  • The Dementia Friendly team is led by Jan Corbett and Mary Hadden with support from the congregation.  District Elders and those providing pastoral support are encouraged to contact Jan or Mary if they feel any member of the congregation affected by dementia may need information or support.

  • The church holds Dementia Friendly Worship four times per year. People living with dementia and their families and friends are welcome to worship in-person in the church. The services are also recorded and available on the Greenbank Church Website.  The simple services are thirty minutes long and have a traditional format with organ music and familiar hymns.

Please help Greenbank as it works towards becoming Dementia Friendly.
